Topstep’s 100% first-$10,000 split now depends on when you joined the new dashboard

PropFirm Beacon research desk · Published

Traders who joined Topstep’s new dashboard on or after 12 January 2026 get 90/10 from the first dollar. The cutoff is the dashboard join date, not the account date.

What the policy says

Topstep’s current payout policy keeps the older wording for a defined group: ‘You receive 100% of your first $10,000 in lifetime profits. After that, the 90/10 split applies.’ Everyone else gets the baseline, which the policy describes as a ‘90/10 profit split — you keep 90%.’

According to the policy, the date that decides which group a trader is in is 12 January 2026, and it refers to joining the new Topstep dashboard. It does not refer to when a particular funded account was created. The policy also states that payouts from the Legacy dashboard do not count towards the first $10,000.

What it costs in dollars

On the first $10,000 of lifetime profit, a grandfathered trader keeps $10,000 and a new joiner keeps $9,000 under a 90/10 split, so the difference is up to $1,000. Beyond $10,000 both groups receive 90%. This is arithmetic on the published split, not an observed payout result.

For a trader who will probably never earn $10,000 in total, the difference shrinks in proportion: on $3,000 of profit it is $300. Comparisons that still advertise ‘100% of the first $10K’ as a general Topstep feature are out of date for new traders.

What we did not verify

The policy page is current. It does not tell us when the page was first changed, so this note is dated to our review, not to an announcement. We have not seen individual account agreements. Traders unsure which group they belong to should ask Topstep in writing and keep the answer.
