PropFirmMatch cookie-stuffing allegations: what the evidence shows
By PropFirm Beacon research desk · Reviewed 31 October 2026 · Developing story
PropFirmMatch faces allegations that interactions with its internal website features triggered affiliate redirects. Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify and Goat Funded Trader announced the end of affiliate relationships on 30 October. Topstep’s CEO separately announced that it was dropping a paid listing.
Why people are asking “is PropFirmMatch a scam?”
The dispute concerns affiliate attribution: which referral gets credited when a trader later purchases a plan. It is not, on the evidence reviewed here, a finding that all firms listed on the platform are fraudulent or that traders lost their trading-account funds. We do not label PropFirmMatch a proven scam.
A disclosed outbound affiliate link is ordinary affiliate marketing. The allegation is different: that clicks intended to browse the comparison site or copy a code could route another tab through a partner link. That could matter to partners’ attribution rules even when the user had not chosen to visit the firm.
What Kane alleged on X
In his 29 October post, Kane (@traderkane) alleged that a JavaScript handler redirected the original tab through a firm’s affiliate link while opening the intended internal destination in a new tab. His example concerned MyFundedFutures. He said this occurred on “most firms” but explicitly added that he had not checked them all.
We read the original post and inspected separately retrieved archived code. We did not independently reproduce the video’s entire browser session or inspect the affiliate accounting for its example. Naming the firm in the demonstration does not establish that the firm designed or authorized the behavior.
Read Kane’s original postWhat archived code establishes
The retrieved bundles include a routine named useAffiliateRedirect, an affiliate_redirects storage key and per-firm/date checks. The inspected logic includes opening a destination with window.open and assigning an affiliate URL to the original tab’s window.location.href. The September bundle also contains eligibility checks and an alternative keep-current-tab branch: not every call necessarily takes the same path.
A later capture dated 30 October contains an apparently disabled handler. These before-and-after captures are consistent with disabling that routine between captures, but do not establish the precise deployment time, reason for the change or every button that invoked it.
Alex Firdaus published a broader archive analysis. He discloses a role at FinMedia Group and FundedTrading.com, another affiliate comparison site. We therefore identify his work as competitor-affiliated analysis, not an unaffiliated forensic audit. Our separate inspection corroborates the routine’s presence in retrieved bundles, not every conclusion in his analysis.
Timeline of the public record
30 Nov 2025
Archived JavaScript contains an affiliate redirect routine. This is a code snapshot, not proof of continuous operation or commissions.
3 Sep 2026
A later bundle contains per-firm/date local-storage checks and new-tab/original-tab navigation behavior.
29 Oct 2026
Kane publishes his allegation and video, describing internal interactions triggering affiliate redirects. He says he did not check all firms.
30 Oct 2026
A later archived handler appears disabled. PropFirmMatch says it is investigating; Apex, Goat and Tradeify announce affiliate terminations. Topstep's CEO announces a separate paid-listing decision.
What the firms actually said
Apex Trader Funding
Apex announced immediate termination and disabled tracking codes after a review of referral tracking and compliance with its affiliate agreement. Its statement did not publish a specific technical breach or prove that a cookie was set in any particular browser.
Tradeify
Tradeify said its review found referrals broke its affiliate terms and announced termination. It also ended PropFirmMatch’s Premier Trading League sponsorship. This is a stated contractual conclusion by Tradeify, not a court or regulator’s finding.
Goat Funded Trader
Goat announced termination and disabled codes following a referral-practices review. The retrieved statement did not identify a particular breach or disclose a supporting technical report.
Topstep: a different decision
Topstep founder and CEO Michael Patak said Topstep was dropping a paid listing and said it did not have a code. Do not count that as the same type of affiliate-code termination. His comments about what he had heard other ranking positions cost are hearsay, not verified rates or proof that payment purchased a ranking.
PropFirmMatch’s response
“Trust is at the heart of what we do. We’re looking into the questions raised and will share a full statement within 24 hours.”
That initial 30 October X statement is an acknowledgement of the questions, not an admission or substantive rebuttal. We did not locate a later substantive statement in the sources searched for this review. That does not prove none exists. The attributed Finance Magnates report says its own outreach had not received a response at publication; that is not outreach made by PropFirm Beacon.
What remains unproven
- Whether the destination set or accepted affiliate cookies in each session.
- Whether an existing creator’s attribution was overwritten.
- Whether a resulting purchase earned a commission, and any amount.
- The number of affected users or continuous operation between archive captures.
- Internal intent, authorization and server-side attribution records.
- A court judgment or regulatory determination establishing these allegations. None was identified in our limited search.
“Cookie stuffing” describes an attribution practice, but the label alone is not a complete technical or legal finding. Calls for lawsuits and cancelled partnerships cannot substitute for the missing accounting and legal evidence.
What traders can do now
Confirm codes and current prices on the firm’s own checkout rather than assuming old partner offers still work. Keep order confirmation, the plan agreement and any code shown at purchase. An affiliate dispute does not automatically change your account’s payout policy; ask the firm directly if your purchase or benefit is affected.
If you report a tracking concern, distinguish an unexpected tab or redirect from demonstrated cookie storage, overwritten attribution and an actual sale. Share redacted, dated evidence and avoid posting personal information or unsupported accusations.
Our conflict of interest and research limits
PropFirm Beacon is a competing comparison site and may earn affiliate commissions. That gives us a commercial interest, which readers should consider. This review uses public statements, reporting and archived code; it is not a live attribution audit, legal opinion or assessment of every PropFirmMatch feature.
The direct Finance Magnates URL returned a different article during retrieval. We used the attributed CoinSpectator republication and corroborated firm statements separately. We have not verified private revenue records. This article should be revised when substantive new statements or findings become available; the date above is a review date, not an automatic freshness claim.
