Prop firms that allow crypto trading

Rules re-checked July 20, 2026 · 13 of 22 firms qualify

Three different products get called 'crypto prop trading': CFD crypto pairs at forex firms, CME crypto futures at futures firms, and dedicated crypto firms trading perpetuals. They have almost nothing in common apart from the ticker.

The three routes, ranked by what they actually give you

Dedicated crypto firms like Breakout give you perpetual futures on a purpose-built terminal, 24/7, with a rule set designed for crypto volatility. If crypto is your market, this is the category that fits — the drawdown maths assumes weekend gaps and 5% candles.

Forex CFD firms give you crypto pairs on MT5 or cTrader alongside FX. Liquidity is the broker's, spreads are wider than a spot exchange, and the alt list is short — but you can trade BTC and ETH on the same account as EURUSD, which suits multi-market traders.

Futures firms give you CME crypto contracts only: micro bitcoin (MBT) and micro ether (MET). These are regulated, deep, and closed at the weekend. That last point disqualifies them for most crypto traders.

Weekend exposure is the whole decision

Crypto's largest single-candle moves cluster in low-liquidity weekend hours. A firm that flattens you on Friday removes both the risk and roughly a third of the opportunity, so the choice between a futures firm and a crypto-native firm is really a choice about whether you want weekend exposure at all.

If you do trade weekends, size for it. A funded crypto account with a 5% daily loss limit can be breached by a single Sunday-morning liquidation cascade while you sleep. Standing stops are not optional on a funded crypto account.

Fees eat crypto edges faster than FX edges

Crypto CFD spreads at prop-firm brokers routinely run several times the spot exchange spread, and funding on perpetuals is charged every few hours. A strategy with a 0.3% average edge per trade can be net negative purely on costs at a CFD firm while remaining profitable at a crypto-native firm.

Before committing, run twenty of your typical trades through the firm's demo and compare fill prices with your exchange. It takes an afternoon and it is the only reliable way to know whether the account can carry your strategy.

How we classify this rule

  • ·'Yes' = tradable crypto pairs on the funded account, including weekends where the underlying trades.
  • ·'Limited' = CME crypto futures only, which means no weekend session and no altcoins.
  • ·Dedicated crypto firms are ranked above CFD firms for crypto-only strategies regardless of overall trust score.

FAQ

Which prop firms allow crypto trading?
Breakout is the crypto-native option. FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, Alpha Capital Group, E8 Markets, Blueberry Funded, FunderPro, FXIFY, The Funded Trader, The Edge Funder and Goat Funded Trader all offer crypto CFD pairs alongside FX.
Can I trade crypto on weekends at a prop firm?
At crypto-native and most forex CFD firms, yes — crypto keeps trading when FX closes. At futures firms, no: CME crypto futures follow the standard futures session and every futures firm flattens before the weekend.
Are crypto prop firm spreads worse than an exchange?
Usually yes, often several times worse on alts. Test fills on demo against your exchange before assuming a scalping strategy transfers.
Do crypto prop firms pay out in crypto?
Many do — USDT or USDC payouts are common and are often faster than a bank transfer. It does not change your tax position: see our prop firm tax guide, where crypto-denominated payouts are still ordinary income at receipt.
